The Franklin Performance New Zealand Burnout Tour 2026: Taking Burnouts Off the Street and Onto the Pad
The New Zealand Burnout Tour 2026 will hit the road this March and April, delivering a nationwide education-focused tour designed to promote safe, legal burnouts and provide clear pathways into motorsport — keeping burnouts off public roads and in controlled environments where they belong.
Led by Fitzroy Motorsport and supported by Franklin Performance, the tour will feature professional burnout cars, live demonstrations at sanctioned events, and community park-ups focused on education, safety, and accessibility. The goal is simple: show enthusiasts that there are legal, affordable, and structured ways to get involved in burnouts — from grassroots events right through to professional competition.
Tour founder Hayden Wilby says the initiative is about more than smoke and noise.
“Burnouts have been part of New Zealand car culture for decades, but too often the only exposure people see is illegal street activity. This tour is about education — how to build cars safely, where you can compete legally, what events are available, and how drivers can progress through the sport in a controlled environment.”
The tour will include:
Professional burnout demonstrations
Community park-ups and Q&A sessions
Education around safety standards, car preparation, and judging
Guidance on entering legal events and progressing through the sport
Merchandise sales supporting the tour’s delivery

Wilby adds that the timing of the tour aligns closely with growing conversations around road safety and anti-social driving.
“Sometimes ‘don’t do it’ isn’t enough. We need to show people the alternatives. This tour gives real options — real venues, real events, and real pathways — so drivers can have fun, learn skills, and stay on the right side of the law.”
The New Zealand Burnout Tour 2026 is supported by a range of motorsport partners, venues, and local businesses, and is expected to attract strong interest from enthusiasts across both islands.
